Klaviyo setup and lifecycle email
A Klaviyo setup runs $800 to $1,200 and takes about a week. That covers the account, the list and segment structure, UTM tracking so you can see what email actually earned, and the five flows that do most of the work: welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post purchase and win back.
If you want the emails written and sent every week after that, an ongoing email copywriting retainer is $1,500 a month for 3 to 5 emails a week, with a two month minimum.
01
What is included in a Klaviyo setup?
Account and list structure
Lists and segments built so you can target by behaviour as opposed to blasting everyone.
UTM tracking
Every link tagged so your analytics can tell you which email produced the sale.
Welcome flow
The first emails a new subscriber gets, which is usually the highest earning flow on a store.
Abandoned cart
Triggered when someone adds to cart and leaves, with the actual cart contents pulled in.
Browse abandonment
Triggered when someone views a product and leaves without adding it.
Post purchase
Order reassurance, product care, and a review request timed around delivery.
Win back
For customers who bought once and went quiet.
Deliverability check
Sender authentication reviewed so your emails land in the inbox as opposed to the promotions tab or spam.
Handover documentation
A written map of what was built and why, so you are not locked to us.
02
How long does it take?
About a week for the setup itself, assuming your store is live and your product data is already in Klaviyo.
The part that decides the timeline is not the build, it is content. If you have brand photography, offers and a sense of your voice ready to go, a week is realistic. If those are still being decided, that is the bit that stretches, and it stretches on your side rather than ours.
03
What does it cost?
Setup
$800 to $1,200
Klaviyo setup: account, lists and segments, UTM tracking, and the five core flows.
Ongoing
$1,500 a month
Email copywriting retainer. 3 to 5 emails a week, written and built. Two month minimum.
Bundle
$2,800
Starter funnel: a landing page, Klaviyo setup with UTM tracking, and a five email sequence.
Larger multi page sites, institutions and nonprofits are quoted to scope, because the work is genuinely different. The whole rate card is on the pricing page.
04
Do you write the emails, or just set up the software?
Both, and the writing is the part that matters.
Plenty of people will configure Klaviyo for you. The configuration is the easy half. What decides whether a welcome flow earns anything is whether the emails sound like a brand a person wants to hear from, as opposed to five automated messages that all open with the same discount.
So the copy is written first and the flow is built around it, not the other way round.
05
What do you need from me to start?
Four things, and none of them take long to gather.
01
Access
A Klaviyo account, or permission to create one, and access to your Shopify store so the two can be connected properly.
02
Your offer
Whether new subscribers get a discount, free shipping, early access, or nothing at all. This one decision shapes the whole welcome flow, so it is worth deciding before the build rather than during it.
03
Product photography
Whatever you already use on your site is usually fine. Emails do not need their own shoot.
04
A sense of how you sound
Not a brand guide. A few examples of writing you like, or a short call where you talk about the business and I listen.
If you do not have all four yet, that is normal, and it is worth saying so up front rather than starting and stalling in week two.
06
What if we are not on Klaviyo?
Klaviyo is what I work in every day, and it is what this page is priced around.
If you are on Mailchimp, Brevo, Omnisend or something else, tell me what you are using before we go further and I will say honestly whether it is something I can do well or not. I would rather tell you that now than find out halfway through a build.
07
Who is this for?
Small and mid sized ecommerce brands, mostly on Shopify, that have traffic and orders but no real email programme behind them. If you are sending an occasional campaign when someone remembers to, and your flows are either off or still on the Klaviyo defaults, that is exactly the gap this closes.
It is not for brands sending at enterprise volume with an in house lifecycle team. They need something else.
08
What happens if we stop working together?
You keep everything. The account is yours, the flows stay built, and the handover document explains how it all fits so another person can pick it up.
The retainer is a two month minimum and then month to month. There is no long contract, because if the emails are working you will not need one, and if they are not, a contract should not be what keeps you here.
